Mathematics from earliest times, men needed to count. By 3000B.C. mere counting had been extended to measuring and calculation by the Babylonians and Egyptians. From Babylonian mathematics, we have inherited 60 seconds in 1 minute, 60 minutes in 1 hour, and 360 degrees in a complete turn. Children are extending their mathematic knowledge and grasping an extended calculus in this subject. The relation to science becomes more understood and their experiments are more advanced. This prepares the child for math subjects in secondary schooling. |
