Three to Eight Year Old Music Lessons Children learn to speak during these early years by absorbing the language of their environment, and gradually using it to express their own ideas. I believe that the language of music should be absorbed in early childhood in the same way. This means experiencing the best of what is available, be it folk, the great classics, or the vital contemporary scene, including electronic music and pop. Children also need to make their own experiments with sound, to sing, listen, move to music, and they do need guidance and the right kind of teaching.
