Learning to read is one of the most significant achievements of children's primary schooling. Some will find it an easy accomplishment. Others for a combination of reasons, may find the process more daunting; they will need more support and encouragement. We know that effective readers have two major characteristics: They realise that it is more important to make sense of what they read than to read precisely every word on the page. They choose to read because it brings them enjoyment and satisfaction. |
